That would be quite a radical change, from a generalistic sedan to a roadster that is clearly more suitable to be a weekend toy.

Not sure what would be the major annoyances if you picked the Elise as a daily driver, but it's clearly not the best choice for an overall commuter.

I was thinking an Elise could be fuel efficient considering the small engine and lightweight, while being reliable (Toyota engine). It's a noisy and rough ride though, and it has few amenities in an effort to save weight. The TSX was my compromise between luxury, sportiness, fuel efficiency, and reliability. It was the phase of vehicle ownership where I valued a good commuter car over offroad prowess.

The Lotus Seven spawned a replica industry similar to the AC Cobra: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locost

Panel gaps are no problem.

I like the Lotus Seven. Well, at least it seems easier to work around and make it more useable as a full-time commuter than an Elise due to the front engine.

What's cool about the Lotus 7 is its inherently unaerodynamic yet distinctive shape. Trying to streamline it is somewhat out of purpose.

I want to make one into a tor-pe-do.

Enzo Ferrari said "Aerodynamics Are For People Who Can't Build Engines". But even if you can build an engine, aerodynamics help your car go faster. Even if it's a Ferrari.

Like the wooden motor home, just scaled down with full pontoon fenders.
