He rebuilt the engine, but can't put a valve cover gasket on, or change the spark plugs? That's like a 5 minute, $5 job. What he really means, is that it's leaking oil somewhere, and there's a slight chance that it's the valve cover gasket. And, the ignition system is probably messed up, or there's oil fouling up all the plugs, so you have to replace them every couple hundred miles. Anyone trying to sell a car that seriously only needs spark plugs to work properly will spend the $5 on new plugs so the car works.

It's pretty clear that he cares more about the visual aspect of the car rather than the performance/maintenance, which means he probably spent all the money on making it look 'nice', rather than keeping it well maintained. For all you know, the 'rebuilt' engine could just mean he changed the oil on it once. I guess that's kind of like rebuilding the oil level in the engine.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. The typical person who spends money to make their car look like that also tends to drive it hard, and put more wear on the engine and transmission.

Both CRX's and $750, or no deal. I'm not even voting on this one, and I tried *so* hard to ignore it, but I can't anymore.

If you trade for either of those cars, and you don't get a buttload of cash for them, I'll drive to SC just to slap you silly. (Metaphorically speaking, of course - I'm not a violent person.)

But seriously. Both and $500, minimum, for your trouble. Neither of those CRX's is worth more than $500, regardless of "engine's been rebuilt" because he can't prove it, even if it does have receipts, unless it was done by a shop. Given the condition of either car, and the known reliability of Honda engines, neither of them would have needed to be rebuilt if doitch there didn't own them anyway.

The only real plus to either one is the (apparent) lack of rust. That'll make it a nice chassis to work with.

Yeah I will text him tomorrow and tell him that the cars are not worth really anything to me without proof of engines being re-built and I will mention that I think he is trying to bs me saying that he rebuilt the engines but cant replace a gasket or a spark plug... If he says that he is desperate I will tell him both cars and $500 and ill think about it ^.^

Both CRX's for your car would still be a good deal. Built one good CRX out of two not so good ones. Then sell the leftover parts?

If you can get money your way too, then even better. Also, id like to agree with whoever said it - Those crx's have probably been thrashed..
