well- the filter change has done it the world of good!

Just above the 1/4 tank mark, and we've done at least 350 miles- so should be well up on the 410 managed last tank

Another tank done..435 miles for 40.11l, giving 49.3imp mpg

Heading in the right direction! Fairly pleased with that as approx 1/4 of tank was running short hops round town.

I will have another tank to add soon-used it as the runner to collect another car- did 480 miles in one day..just needs tank refilled for me to be able to record it

This lil bugger was used to collect my Brother's new car last weekend- managed 485.3 miles on 40.98 L- a very pleasant 53.86mpg (imp) or 44.81mpg (US)

Most of that was done at an indicated 75 as we were on a short timescale. I reckon If I can get a long run at 60-65mph, she'd be good for 58-60mpg

Today the Polo was used for an interesting journey..

Had to head up to the new unit after work, so set off from the station- it was a trip of about 20 miles.

About 1/2 way in, on a 60mph dual carriage way the journey starts to climb heavily. Today in sunny Scotland that means Snow

Skinny little tyres made light work of the sleet and slush, and the heater was too warm at 1/2 warm..

She's shaping up to be a decent 'do everything' car and was treated to a hoovering out tonight.

At the weekend I'll get a look at her regarding the upcoming Mot- a decision re her future will be made then.

Hopefully she doesnt need much and the fuelling/ecomodding experimenting can begin in ernest

Good to hear that the fuel filter looks to be the problem. I had a citroen xsara 2.0hdi witch was realy sensitive about condens/water in the filter. It would shake on trottle. And in the worst case i shook so hard it flipped out of gear. I cleaned the filter housing and drained the filter for a couple of hours. It was good then. Mayby check how much water there is in your tank.

My 1.9 Lupo was similar...

I had a 2001 Lupo with the same engine and I could easily get 65-70 MPG out of it. I got 75 MPG many times on long trips...

Your lupo would have had an sdi engine (possibly a 1.7?) Its the next generation on from this aef lump. The sdi is great- but difficult to pick up for the £170 i paid for the polo

Had time today to get a good look at the Polo- checking to see what work needs doing before it's MOT in Feb.

Happily, the news is overwhelmingly positive
