If I were you I would be looking for an SVO/WVO kit. On a sidenote, in spite of the currently low availability of IDI Diesels in my country, a few researches have shown they actually run more efficiently on vegetable oils than either regular Diesel fuel or biodiesel.

This AEF engine has the lucas pump, as opposed to the bosch one. The lucas pump is apparently less tolerant of veg based fuelling-that said it is my intention to start experimenting

Can't you upgrade it to a Bosch pump. BTW it's kinda odd that a Volkswagen engine would feature a Lucas pump, I remember that old 50hp 1.6IDI an uncle of mine swapped into a Suzuki Vitara had a Bosch...

I could but it'd be a right PITA and needs pump timing up etc. At the moment it works so leave well alone.

Every AEF code engine came with lucas pumps, as did every 1.9 SDI-guess vw thought they were adequate for the job..

No real loss-still think i can get to 50% veg in the summer

That's odd. I have only seen them with Bosch pumps. Maybe due to the supply chain in South America...

This is now going the way of the first McCartney wife..

Started her off on a diet of 5L of veg to 40 or so of crushed dinosaur- what with her having the Lucas Prince of Darkness (TM) pump, I'm taking it easy!

Learning from my experiences with the AAZ engined golf, I put £20 in prior to putting the Veg in. then topped off the tank afterwards.

Off out to see the parents the now- if you hear swearing you'll know its gone well

Be careful with the veg oil, doesn't take much to sniff it and the plod will be dipping your tank.

Not sure it's worth the risk to be honest.

Not an issue- can use up to 2500l per year before any vat issues!

Law changed in 2007- here are the details
Veg Oil Motoring, diesel engine conversions to run on vegetable oil » Legality and Fuel
