This thing was really comfortable even with the complete lack of seat padding!
-as long as there were no sharp turns.

21D Electra

"comfortable, upright riding position"?? That's my CF bike!

CF isn't Carbon Fiber, it's Crank Forward! It's got a seat, not a saddle..
You can stay siting down while going uphill..

Original 21D | Electra Bikes

It's nice for old folks, since your seat height is set so your feet are both on the ground.. Great for stopping at the light, no leaning over balancing on one foot..

I want to experiment with a CF. But I would want it to have rear suspension. I'm also a fan of noseless saddles. While they take some getting use to, the comfort of not have the saddle smash into your nuts on EVERY little imperfection in the road is totally worth it. They may not work on a typical road racing bike position, but they do if the handlebars are higher.

How could they get a patent on being able to set your feet flat on the ground while sitting on a bike? I had many bikes with a seat set low enough to do that. Also had some with a top tube high enough I had to get off the seat and stand on my toes.

By now there shouldn't be anything patentable about shapes or riding positions on bicycles. Like with metal lathes, it's all been done before.

Our Electra bikes don't have a saddles. They are seats, and are a lot more comfortable.
My bike has front shocks, but since I don't go off-road, I don't really need them.
My wife's bike doesn't have them. When I ride her bike, it feels the same.
(Just a little smaller).

This one is a 7d (7 speed) and might be for sale soon..

For those who have saddle issues, I have found that moving the nose of the saddle to one side a few degrees allows much less pressure on the, ah, soft tissues. I'd suggest looking at a combination of the Oscar Egg Rocket tail and frame mounted front fairing. A tail box is in the works.

Curse you! Next you will be suggesting that in addition to 'tuning' the motor, reducing the motor's frontal area wouldn't do any harm - which is why I'm riding a cycle in the first place!

It's self defeating. Once you use your bike to reduce your ballistic coefficient,
your fat burning will also be reduced, allowing your bc to revert back..
If the bc stabilizes at a healthy weight, you got lucky!

My plan to get better aero this summer, is to change my cargo carrier gear..

The big side-bag has a lot of drag.. (good for getting a work out).
Whereas the rear mount smaller bag is kinda like a boat-tail..
All I have to do is steal the bag off my wife's bike!

The only thing I don't like is my right ankle hitting the boat-tail bag when mounting..

It's not so much the frontal area as performance in crosswinds.
