Golf and Jetta have the same front end and they only show the front crash.

That test was rigged up for other reasons. LOTS of clips of this all over boobtube, but very few of them note that this test was non-standard.

Wow the van actually seems to be built like a tank, the crumple zones appear to be crack zones with a little compression. it appears the VW t3 was traveling at 80 + mph when it pancaked into the wall and considerably slower in the crash tests Chrstophr posted. the truth is somewhere between the two examples I would guess.

I believe the smart cars needs a new design / materials to increase the survivability of its users when a accident occurs. It would be a great little car to try out new materials and configurations with.
