I'm having the EXACT same behavior on my 96 metro and I have mine wired to the FI fuse - same as you. When the SG was not in hybrid mode the SG would fall asleep AND I would lose all trip data. With it in hybrid mode it still falls asleep but it does not reset the trip. It's really irritating, I feel like I have to choose between engine on coasting with helpful data or engine off coasting blind to FE data.
Did you ever find a solution?
I'm thinking I need to rewire mine to the coil pickup like metrompg did

The newest SGII Firmware version has an option with which you can choose when it goes to sleep. Options are RPM=0, ECU=off and Voltage <14V, if I remember correctly. You need not touch the hybrid setting to use this. For me, this would not have worked anyway since the hybrid setting only works for petrol engines, not for diesels.

I had the same problem as you when switching off the engine at red lights, which is fixed with the ECU=off setting when leaving the ignition on. Frustratingly, SGII then says LHK=9999 because it does not recognize that the engine is off, only that the car is standing still... not perfect, but better than before. Thx again to PaleMelanesian for setting me on the path to this solution.

so long,

tinduck
