Some bits, made some new carbon quarters, my carbon and spraying skills have improved a little, a rack for a work trestle (heavy, but used little) and making a new bumper this week. The rail is 1.6kg and the new bumper will be 7.2kg lighter so still up. Last nights r&d means by next year it will be 107kg lighter. More carbon, glass, titanium, kevlar and lots and lots and lots and lots of work

126 lighter, some bits I forgot and if I get time to make composite wheels that can be added but most likely the year after...

Also I was in the heat box with the bumper and got sick. But after a lie down I will be ok

Nice build!

When you are talking about 70-90 MPG - is that US or UK MPG?

Hi Alex thanks, it's uk miles, or gallons. Very much work I'm afraid, the stryrene went though the wax and a layer of epoxy fibreglass to paint so the first mould tore up (first two pictures). Second time with foil worked fine as I did in the past. I've ran nearly out of carbon fibre and money so will use glass. I hope I get to do more this year. Wheels would be great to make, and one mould will make all four where with doors you have to mould each one and will probably be more complex

The mould is ready for one 600g roven woving layer, it's about equivalent to 400g carbon. I do have a little left but quite happy to use that for something else. I have some titanium for the exhaust.

Once everything is done I will test urban mpg, thats about 95% of my miles. The other week 60mph long distance came in at 81.6 which will be about the worst I will get. Weight will not affect this. A flat floor or vortices on the roof and tail may make a small difference

I have not used gfrp in car build, but use it in personal hobbies...
I use double layer:
1st layer - carnauba wax.
2nd layer - PVA.

I use PVA with blue color pigment - it helps visually ensure that whole surface is covered.

Thanks, I'll try that next time with the wings

its taking ages and I've taken lots of time off work, it's annoying. I'm not very good at making things

I did order 100 6061 aluminium m6 non structural fasteners, that will be an easy lb or two, for holding the remaining computers,
