Good looking work, bobo.
Nice thing is that you don't have much money in it and you can easily work on "beta" versions.

Thanks guys,
I was thinking about rear wheel skirts but with the truck sitting so high at the back i didn't thing it would really be worth it as they wouldn't cover much of the wheels? Aero hubcaps are definitely on the agenda though as well as an air dam similar to yours Big Dave.

Hi Guys,
filled up a bit early today (wasnt empty yet) but i thought it would be good to start a new tank now that i have the aerocap on. pretty similar driving style and weather as the last tank but i did one drive though rush hour city traffic, lots of stop start and idling killed me a lil with 7.44mpg this tank.
Also this arvo i pulled apart the aerocap ready for sealing and painting before it goes back on the truck permanently tomorrow.
IKEA style aerocap? (flatpack)
thanks for looking

It does look a bit like a fugitive from the IKEA website...
Fender skirt in your case indeed won't cover the wheels/tires, but would fair off the "parachute" aspect of the wheel wells. Pizza-pan wheel covers?
Don't get too fancy on this version. drive it and get a feel for it and see how much it helps your MPG. Like my old rubber apparition, you seem to have no lid and have made your truck into a 2x4 carrier. You'll eventually get around to thinking about a lid.
Your plywood and lumber lid should last a year or two. Long enough to think about the beta. The guy that got my rubber apparition is still using it. That thing is six years old now. I built it to last six weeks.

Hi guys,
Well i didnt get my aerocap painted and back on as soon as i thought, it turn out the oil based primer sealer and paint that i got (exterior grade for hopefully a nice long life) takes 24 hours before i can recoat, so so far ive only got 2 coats of primer on...
Front halfway done:
sides done:
top after 2 coats (nice and shiny)
ive also started kick panel enclosures for 10" mid/bass speakers (will be competing in national car audio sound quality finals at the end of september...
thanks for looking

Hi guys,
Filled up a new record tank last night which was a bit of a surprise! I was in a bit of a hooning mood for most of this tank and did a few WOT accelerations and well as some harder braking, i also tried some engine off downhill coasts which seems to have helped (probably about 30km EOC in this tank). Up to 8.05mpg now!
I still haven't got the aerocap on (waiting for the last coat of paint to dry still) hopefully Ive got time to get it on Wednesday.
That's all folks

Hey guys,
Got the aerocap back on today, still only in primer though because its needs lots of filling and sanding before i add the final coat of paint but at least its on and hopefully helping my aero now
The "butt dyno" says its helping, and I had to brake noticeably harder at the end of one of my downhill coats than usual but it was quite windy this arvo.
Thanks for looking

That looks great. Color match it to the cab and no one will know!

Hi guys,
Had my first fill up since the Aerocap went on today, it was only on for half this tank though and the weather destroyed any chance of me seeing gains (Very windy and pouring with rain most of the time) but it didnt drop much so i think the aerocap is working, 7.61mpg
Also got some hinges and latches to make the hatch so i can get stuff in and out of the bed without going through the tailgate.
to finish off with heres another random pic i got the other day
Thanks for looking
