I don't think it would have mattered this time. He seemed to be quite fixated on his gas pedal and horn after we had just turned left out a one way street. I'm not sure he realized the street WAS a one way street( even though it has been that way for at least 12 years) , and appeared to want to communicate his displeasure with me that I had the audacity to pull to the left lane, stop, look both ways, and start on my merry way before he could speed up behind me on the right side, not bothering to stop, and since I was already in the road ahead of him, applied both horn and accelerator pedal to communicate to me that somehow I had offended him. I can only guess it was the accelerator, because when I decided to stop( no place to pull over) and ask what exactly the problem was, he hit me and pushed my car about 5 feet. As we were still on school grounds, I think he may have been speeding. Again, I can only guess, since I only noticed him pulling up along my right side as I was checking for traffic just before pulling out. I didn't notice that he had pulled out beside/behind me until I heard the blaring horn.

Well I guess that is one in favor of "boat tails don't ride up on other people's hoods and rip their heads off".
Glad to hear it's not worse, although all that glass probably cushioned the impact quite a bit.

Yeah, it's given me a reason to rethink my future plans for the tail. I was thinking of making a mold and going fiberglass for a re-shell. I'm leaning toward going basjoos' route and going aluminum skin over steel frame. I'm thinking I can still build a complete tail before removing this version, just might take a bit longer.

Did the police say anything about your tail?

I wasn't going to involve the police, as I usually give people the benefit of the doubt as to whether they are good for their word or not, but after hearing about his rep around town, I'll be stopping by the police dept. tomorrow after work. I've spoken to several police officers about my car, and none have ever had any problems with it. It does help that I am certified by the State of Vermont to perform car inspections, so I have to know the laws pretty well.

I'm sorry the boattail got damaged - but I'm glad nobody was hurt. I would definitely report it - he might be a drunk and you could save someone else some problems. They could be put on record - road rage is serious.

sounds like the type of person who needs some help. road rage is asking for trouble. Having met you in person you can strike a imposing posture and I bet that changed his attitude.

Jed throw
Make your bumble bee have a stinger. Time to put a pentrator or let's say shiv on the back. Something hard and very thin. Let them strike and be left with a nice barbed point into their radiator and block.
In the mean time let's think of better days, before the clutch problems.
and the body was in good shape. Glad that you were not injured.
Metal rebuilding is tempting but composite is cool too.

I hear ya, Man . I do think that the "Boys-in-Blue" might take exception with the "Mad Max/ James Bond" approach .
