I actually believe in the same thing.
Even used JDM motors are used as good CORES only good for rebuilds.
This is well known in the rotary community! lol
I always tell people.
So their law is to change motors often but imagine they get "FULL USE" of them before they give them up! lol

Depends on how you source it. I scored a low mile engine from a wreck once for a fraction of what an overhaul costs (yes, doing it myself) and it turned out to be a gem.

That's true also, what frank said, It's like playing hold-em but with slightly better control of the hand you are dealt. Thank god they usually have 30 day warranties so if they don't run right you can usually return them if your source is local.
Luckly I live in California where we have tons of JDM importers.

I think that the CX is like the earlier MPFI cars. They used manifold pressure as the primary load measurement, not intake air flow.

If it doesn't have a MAF then you will want an air fuel meter and maybe some way to tune it.
With a high flowing intake and headers it could be running too lean.

So i have about 254 miles so far on this tank of gas and there is about an 1/8 tank left. Usually about 40-60 miles but I have never ran this car dry so Time for me to carry around a tank of gas so I can figure out just how far it will get till out of gas. This should give me the best estimate on my tank of gas 13.2 gallons. Since this was mixed city60%/highway30% driving it feel as if my change in driving style helped. Now after this tank is done and I get a base Miles per tank I can figure out my starting MPG. I can install my MPGuino and get it calibrated. Then I can begin the aero mods!
I also bought a new set of NGK V-Power plugs for $2.75 each x 4.
Good price and don't feel bad buying NGK plugs since I have been for 18 years now. These will be going in with the MPGuino when I am done with this tank. I also got one drivers side wiper, I am removing the passenger wiper!
I also dropped my the 1995 Civic HB/CX today with some garbage bags to cover up the broken pass window and the engine up from the rain we have today in Nor-Cal. The lien-papers are going in and 1 month till I bring her home! 92,000 miles clean title!

Ok I am at 288 miles now and when I turn the engine is losing some gas so I know it's time to fill. Tomorrow I will hit up the same gas station and see how much fuel fit's into the tank now, if I make it there before I run out! I did the math 288 miles/13.2gal. and it looks like I got about 21mpg but I find out for sure tomorrow, most of my driving was 70% city and 30% freeway. This weekend taking a 350 mile trip so I can burn off another tank of gas see what my freeway mileage is before I install the MPGuino, plugs, wires, remove mirror, remove 1 wiper and both on dry days, remove mud guards and whatever else I can find after my freeway trip, since that's where the real difference is.

Not Bad! Considering most of my driving is 75% city and 25% freeway.
I used 10.848 gallons at $4.219 cents each = $45.76 *Corrected*

$5.12 a gallon?
I couldn't afford four wheels at that price.

Remember a few short years ago when $4/g sounded preposterous as in "not in this lifetime"? The frog-in-boiling-water syndrome: it works.
