Well, you'll find lots of folks on here that are simply not content to think - and act - within the constrained boxes that others have laid out for them.

How free is a country where or when you can't think / act out of the box anymore for fear the sharks / lawyers will come after you, based on assumed "safe" operating parameters ... that actually have no real base themselves.
Recently I read - somewhere else - that the US is no longer pushing the technological (aviation) boundaries, like it did in the 50s or 60s.
But how can you possibly push any boundaries, with liability lawyers loitering overhead, waiting to exploit any unintended crack near any of those boundaries ?

The funny thing is... dosages on medicine bottles aren't even "safe" dosages.
They're recommended dosages to achieve the desired effects.
Meaning: "beyond this dosage, you will not see any increase in efficacy."
Which is exactly the same as the "maximum pressure" on tires.
They mean: "Beyond this pressure, you will not achieve any increase in 'x'."
"X", being, of course, load carrying capability. Nothing more, nothing less.
Neither pharmaceutical nor tire manufacturers are insane enough to put maximum safe dosage/pressure on their warning labels, because if they do, there will be some idiot out there who goes ahead and takes fifty sleeping pills all at once, or who decides that 150 psi sounds nice and firm.
Not that I suggest taking more than the recommended dose for any medication. Pains me to see people taking huge doses of vitamins on some new age health kick on the premise that you can never have too much... when that crap is bad for your kidneys and liver.

So things like vitamins, and tire pressure follow the law of diminishing returns. If you ever had a bicycle tube burst from overpressure you will remember the ringing in the ears. When ever possible, use specific data and a good dictionary in technical writing. The last bicycle tube I had burst (rupture versus popping) was a 27x1-1/4 in a 700c x 35mm tire being filled to 85psi.

Real racing tubes - 22mm to 25mm - are filled to well beyond 85 psi .
They can use pressures up to 145 psi ...
I'm running about 85psi in my regular bike tyres at work - the pressure the valve controllers work on.
