Pininfarina says the Aero Bridge scoops air directly off the hood and onto the side of the car, where it merges with air coming out of the front wheel arches to reduce drag and helps the F12 generate 271 pounds of down-force at 124-mph.
She's a 3350-pound ( 1519.5-kg ), 211-mph ( 339.5-km/h ) car.

Ducting tidbits

The 1964 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, by Pete Brock also has a provision to 'duct' rear wheel-well air into the wake, ala John Simonson's 1953 Studebaker technology.
A photograph of the 'Coupe' was taken at Riverside Raceway during tuft-testing and shakedowns by Ken Miles.
You can clearly see the opening from looking back on the car.
All photographs of it's transom reveal blank-off plates installed, sealing off the openings.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
And it is the 2010 Ferrari 599XX which sported the dual-fan, blown-wake.
A 'permeable' central diffuser panel was exposed to fan suction, with the air cyclically discharged in controlled bursts, by piezoelectric diaphragms, through vacant taillight openings, to detach the wake.
The 599's Cd was estimated at 0.40 by a-c.
The car developed 617-pounds down-force @ 124-mph.
1,380-pounds @ 186-mph.
The tricks were referred to as 'universally illegal active aero.'
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not to compare the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT to the 599, but Pininfarina measured a negative-34 at the diffuser location, to a negative-9 at the taillights on the GT, indicating that external power WOULD be necessary to move the air, otherwise the air would flow forwards.

It would be easy enough to AB test the feature with a duct block. I'd thought they published the result.

Interesting. Induce turbulence to shake it off?

I think Shelby was already involved with 'burying Enzo Ferrari one-hundred feet below the finish line at Le Mans.'
They concentrated on the Ford GT-40 at that point, allowing Brock's Coupe to languish.
The duct technology would itself be proprietary, something race car builders don't typically 'share.'
Watching 'Ford vs Ferrari, you'll see the Daytona Coupe at their Los Angeles International Airport location. With the sealed fanny.

I added an attribution to the quote at Permalink #33. It was about the Ferrari, not the Cobra Coupe.

They don't flesh it out.
The wake is time-averaged chaos, and they're introducing two cyclic jets of high-pressure air, at each end of the transom.
Unlike continuously-blown slots on a wing section.
Above my pay grade!

I saw that and responded with data for the F12 Berlinetta.

Still not all the way to the wake, but the Maclaren Elva has intakes that run from where the A-pillar isn't, through both doors, to the engine compartment.

youtu.be/JjOm-v_5l6U?t=1789

It also has an instrument pod that is a splitter that redirects air around the driver's head.

Eva

I suppose the car will be forgiven just because of who made it.
