Daox, I see you run the Ecopia tires on the Prius and KR22's on the Paseo. What's your opinion on the KR22's?

My dad's 1990 Mustang has 225/65R15s stock (26.5" tall), so if you need to go a little taller to get an easy to find LRR size, they'll still fit.

Its really hard to say because my car was parked for a long time, and during that time I swapped to the KR22s. I don't think they're as good as my old 155/80/R13 BALD tires I had on the car. I'm not sure what brand/model they were, just some cheapo tires I got from where ever. However, they're definitely better than the Fuzion HRI tires I had on just the front of the Paseo shortly before parking it for a while (wore through the 155/80/R13s). The handling with the 175/70/R13 is much better than the 155 tires and I like that. Unfortunately for me, they were the only LRR tires I could get for 13" wheels that kept the same diameter. So, I am happy to have a LRR tire, but I don't think they're all that amazing. My Ecopias seem to roll better, but that is also in a car that is 900 lbs heavier so a grain of salt and all that...

In 15" sizes, 205/65-15 and 225/ 60-15 were on the 1990 Mustang, they are the same 25.5" OD as the 195/75-14.

Maybe my dad's has 225/60s then, I'm not positive on that (and the car is 350 miles away, so I can't check easily).

So the RE92's that you are using, are they the old discontinued, Insight version, or are they new RE92 that are "high performance", but you still feel they make for good fuel economy now?

Steffen: there is no old vs new. The Insight tires are still in production and for sale in North America.

WOW! Well that's good. God bless America!
Are all RE-92 LRR then? tirerack says that the Bridgestone Potenza RE92 is a high performance all season.
Is it a specific size of the RE92 that is LRR then?
I've got a Civic VX and have 13" wheels so only the 165/65R13 would fit my wheel as that's the only 13" model of RE92 that tirerack has.

No, among RE-92's, only the 165/65R14 "Insight tire" is LRR - my idea of a high performance summer tire. In any other size, it's a completely different formulation of little interest on EcoModder.

I just checked tire rack and WOW! The insight tire weighs only 13 lbs and it a 14" tire. The 165/65/13" re92 weighs 19 lbs.
Also i was looking at some of the other LRR tires like the kumho kr22, and the 175/70/13 weighs 16 lbs, but if somebody were to just throw some 195/70/14s on their car, they weigh 21 lbs. That's 8 lbs more than the 14" insight tire.
It just was very interesting for me to see how some people can go to such lengths to save weight on wheels, but then could easily screw up their tire weight by picking the wrong size/brand tire. I gotta check how much insight 14" wheels weigh, because my civic vx wheels are super light but only 13".
