You and I also.
A) The reason I bring it up has to do with pine trees evolving in a world that doesn't experience - negative- 320 F winter temperatures.
Not even Vostok Station, Antarctica experiences such temperatures.

Let the record show that I was never talking about reducing more than a ten-thousand part of the mass of the tree, and the full mass of the grubworm, to subzero temperatures.

I don't know where the misapprehension was introduced.

Umm no actually it was 40 cars of Trona (glass making additive) from out of ridgecrest at 4 times the estimated weight, and some other freight at the end, had mechanical brakes and partial dynamic braking on some of the engines, but not enough to deal with the downslope. When they hit emergency stop, it disengaged the pitiful dynamic braking. They found the brake pads welded to the wheels afterwards, and the fuel induced fire happened after they restarted the pipeline some time later after a rushed, shoddy inspection.

🤔

Facts don’t matter to those pushing the climate change agenda.

Instead, their message is always...

Thanks! I was operating from memory. The little gray cells were telling me that 'Trona' had been mentioned on the program 'May Day' as a fertilizer constituent.

You're welcome. Somebody might be using trona as a fertilizer additive, like borax, it has many uses

That's very interesting, as Boron, California, in the desert above Cajon Pass is the site of 20-Mule Team BORAX's mining operation.

Boron is right outside the north gate of edwards and the rocket test site, 30 ish miles east of Mojave and the train yard that made up the ill fated aforementioned san berdue crash train, but before US 395 which makes the eastern boundary of KEDW airplane patch.

The borax pit is across the freeway

Right! I visited there once, and got away with a couple of beautiful, box-cornered, wooden, DuPont Dynamite boxes from back when.
Boron was also the final home of Pancho Barnes, of the Happy-Bottom Riding Club.
General Chuck Yeager was the keynote speaker at the 1997 annual Oshkosh Fly-In. The 'pit' where his Bell X-1 was attached to the B-29 mother ship was very close to where I worked at Edwards.
And it was interesting to finally 'meet' the famed aviator, knowing his connection to 'Muroc', Pancho, and the remains of her desert watering-hole I'd walked out to see a couple of times.

The happy bottom club was perhaps 5 miles from the west gate about 1/2 mile from the antelope valley freeway. One long walk since the west gate is about 2 miles from main base.
