Huge Nebraska Solar Park Completely Smashed to Pieces by One Single ...
TodayMultimillion dollar solar project gets reduced to a heap of toxic rubble by one single hail storm. The Scottsbluff, Nebraska 5.2 MW Community Solar project was part of the NPPD's Sunwise program that consisted of an array has over 14,000 solar panels. It's reported that it had been put into operation in 2019.

Renewables might not be the one-size-fits-all solution (yet), but if I lived in a house instead of apartment I would try at least some solar panels. Much better than having absolutely no backup when the grid fails.

A $200 genset gives you backup in case of grid outage.
My retirement dream is a house on the river, with micro hydro electricity generation from a spring that feeds into the river.

Aeroheads hail stones plus wind turbines and/or solar panels equals no more of both.
The solar panels would be 100% trash, solar micro inverters could probably be reused and wind turbines would need new blades.

It's an enginering constraint.
Hail-proof wind power? Put them indoors, like Bucky Fuller advocated.
Hail-proof solar? Put the PV panels under ETFE pillows.

They should give that “rubble” to me,
Back in ye olde times the only way a person got solar was by salvaging hail damaged, cracked and age out panels which are easily repaired.
Indestructible full flex panels have long been possible , unfortunate nobody wants to make the things durable

PV cells make about 0.5v regardless of size. Break one in half, and you get 2 cells making about 0.5v with half the current each.

Are you aware of Battery hookups sale of tube panels removed from walmarts? Not sure if they are held in various other statewide locations, because the Sebastopol ones are just down the road in Cali for me

'turbine blades'
No mention of them so far. If they parked themselves, I'd like to know what the leading edges look like. I've seen the blades on the ground up in Gainesville, Texas, at a trans-shipment storage facility along Interstate-35. They're extremely thick epoxy-composite. I can't imagine that 'any' hailstone, regardless of size could 'touch' them. Don't know.
The turbines at Jacksboro, Texas, that went through the tornado did nothing to the turbines there. Often, the height of the supercells that spawn tornadoes, also produce hail ( it's a hundred below zero F up there ).
