Rental corolla 40.3mpg

Just back from a trip to the SW USA and rented a Toyota Corolla and got 40.3 average indicated and this seems right looking at the gas purchased over 2300 mile trip.
Back home in UK the wife is getting 45.5 mpg out of her late 2009 Subaru Forester diesel.

Good stuff. What year and model was it?

Not sure of the model of corolla only 12k miles on it so a 2010 and fairly basic and not very powerful.

No Corolla will be powerful. It's a cheap, FWD 4 cylinder.
