standard=manual=stick shift

You had mentioned previously that you had a back issue that made driving stick painful.

How many miles does it have? Just change the timing belt on time and keep the oil full, it'll drive til the end of time if you do that.

If you don't mind my suggestion you might want to leave it on there for the first month or 2 if you're just learning how to drive a manual. If you take it off after the first 2 weeks you're going to see an improvement guaranteed but it will most likely be due to improving you skill driving a stick more than anything. If nothing else at least wait until your mpg starts to be about the same per each tank for the most accurate results.

Oh yea, I still have that back issue, but due to me only driving a tiny bit of city on my way to work, I decided to go with it. When I do my city running around I'm gonna use the green goblin for now. But my back is getting better somewhat.

It has 198,5xx miles. The timing belt also worries me, gonna get that changed Pronto.

Backpacker, that's actually a good suggestion, it will give me time to find a replacement trunk that has all the symbols anyway, maybe I'll find a ricer kid that wants to swap trunks.

You said you didn't want a standard, and then you wouldn't be able to physically drive it- I was just wondering what happened. I thought there was an Insight for 5.5 with a new battery and new transmission you passed on because it was manual.

My general group has always referred to standards as standards, err, manuals as standards. Back in the day it was the normal to just have standard transmissions, then there was the option of an automatic, and now auto or CVT. When looking at cars, often there is a standard and then an option for an auto/CVT. It's usually more money and weight, too.

The guy sold that before I could get to it, it was an amazing car but some guy bought it from him for 5,700. Also at the time, I didn't want to even think of a manual, I was in so much physical pain because of the accident I didn't think I would ever be able to drive one. After 2 months of Chiropractic care and resting I'm not in as much pain as I was.

I'm glad you're doing better. I have only suffered back pain because of my own fault, but there's not much as rough as the pain- going from high performing to barely able to move is terrible :/

Yea even now, I have a 24/7 headache (try trying to fall asleep with that) because my neck nerves are pinched and it's overstimulating the pain nerves, causing them to swell in my brain, thus, headache.

I heard the CA version of the HX doesn't have any of the nice gas-saving features as the 49 state versions, is this true? I gotta leave for work now, so ill respond if i can get internet at work, if not, it'll be about 10 hours until im home.

I just had an exchange that answers this question on another thread that started about the VX lean burn and drifted into the HX lean burn. Answers your question:

And it's maybe worth considering getting a Fed ECU if you don't have one so you can test and see if you can confirm this experience.

It is, in fact, a shift light. It's supposed to coach you into shifting at the most efficient time.

Ignore it.

It's wrong.

Congrats on the car.

I've always used Gunk: https://gunk.com/Home/Products/Engin...egreasing.aspx

Most any hardware or auto parts store should have it.
