Scangauge II Out of Warranty Repair

I originally bought my scangauge II in 2006, after using it for a couple of years the backlight went out.

I thought it was the cable so into order to get back into the economy game I bought a new cable. When I jiggled the old cable it made the back light work sometime. To my surprise the new cable didn't solve the problem.

I then called Linear Logic and was instructed to just go ahead and send my unit in with a note what the problem is, what car it's in, and the return address.

After exactly one week I get a package in the mail. It's my old unit but it looks like it has new buttons, the backlight works and on top of that it's loaded with new software. It also came with a new manual.

Right away I noticed I'm getting more accurate fuel consumption(gph), it also senses when my injectors are off and shows it. On my next drive where I did 50/50 city/hwy I got 43.X mpg. Not bad considering there was some traffic on the freeway. The car in question is 99' civic 5spd dx.

My best before was 49mpg on freeway only drafting a truck could probably be beaten with this updated scangauge.

One happy customer

Thanks for the story. It's good to know they stand by their product. I use one in my Monte for the x-gauges and plan to get another when/if I get a new commuter with OBD2. Haven't heard any UG horror stories but knowing SG backs up their product is reason to consider them over the others.

My scangauge light is out as well. I've just sort of made do with it as otherwise it still works. Maybe I should contact LL and see if it's possible to get it fixed. I bought it in 2008 and the light went out last year so I didn't think there would be any sort of warranty available.

I had mine for several years when it started acting up (it kept changing to some foreign language that looked like chicken scratching). I sent it in and they took care of it even though it was way out of warranty. Great company to do business with! Chumly

Yeah go ahead give them a phone call.

I actually look for reasons to drive my car now, just so I can report some good fuel mileage haha

I had the same issue (backlight not working) with my ScanGauge II 2 years ago. I sent it to them and received it (repaired) a week later (During Christmas week!) All it cost me was shipping to them.
