werkin today
So I did some more on the Dodge (gonna hafta name 'er) today.
Took some pics of the destruction.
Wanna see em?
Here i go.
This is the Un-Work Bench at the front of my Garage. It is the catch-all for anything you don't want to see in the Kitchen.
So I cleaned off my bench to hold pieces of the Dodge (recently named "Torch" courtesy of My Grandson, Branden)
Some of those pieces are already taking up space on the bench.
This is my heater, it was a little chilly today, high temp 45*f.
Removed enough components to get a good look at the Timing Belt.
It appears to be a recent addition to the car . I will re-use it.
Mark the belt so you know which direction it was turning. The books say to make a mark in the direction of engine rotation, but it has always been easier for me to point at the front of the car.(which btw happens to be rotational on this car.)
Allrighty then,
Lots removed, lots more to go.
so far;
A/C gone, (it was already emptied at Ralphs)
Coolant gone, (in a sealed container for waste disposal)
Oil gone, (different sealed container)
Timing cover gone,(upper half anyway)
Alternator gone, (next time disconnect the battery first,DUH)
Battery disconnected,
Spark plugs and distributer cap and rotor gone,(i know where they are)
Some, not all, coolant hoses gone
GREAT BIG pan under car for drips, and
even bigger piece of cardboard under drip pan, (just in case)
many vacuum hoses and electrical connections disconnected.
fuel lines disconnected(open tank to prevent expanding fuel from dripping out the ends), breather removed & some little stuff i can't remember.
Back to work tomorrow am
lessee if we can't get this thing torn down by noon.

Workin' some more
I've been following the threads for Johnny Mullets Geo and ebachervile's CRX.
They have inspired me to get back to work on my Metro.
Soooooooo
Last week I dropped the oil pan and replaced the noisy connecting rod bearings. Luckily it appears there was no damage to the crankshaft. I can't take the time right now to do the complete overhaul. I decided to do what was necessary for continued road worthiness until I get the Dodge done and the Geo off the road.
Sorry no pics, I was in a rush and didn't take time to smell the oil dripping.
Today I got to work on my headlight covers. Many moons ago the plastic supplier gave me some Lexan. (yes he gave it to me for free)
I laid it out and cut it and screwed it to the old bucket assemblies. Looks pretty good. I will give you pic's tomorrow. I got the idea from CoyoteX' XFI.
Thanx All,
S.

I have a quick question about those inserts for your daughters jetta. How much do they cost from the dealership? I have a jetta and one of mine has fallen out and half the clips on the second one are broken so it is barely hanging in there. lol
