Seat cover material

Back in 1997-1998, I had these seat covers in my old 6000 wagon and loved them. They were soft and I loved the pattern. One day I ended up having to smash a huge wolf spider into one with my boot, later I took them out to clean them, and never could figure out what happened to them after that.

I got them on sale at Kmart. They were called Aztec Fur. I would like to get some cheap covers or make some with this material for the Celeb. Has anyone seen this material anywhere? I have not.

A little hard to tell from the photo but it looks like "POLAR FLEECE" material and should be available from any decent fabric supply place.
Ask most females for a source if you are not familiar with one.
Take a sample if you have one and see if they can match it.
It is a recycled poly ethylene made from soft drink bottles by the way and it will "matt" if you wash it in a machine.

Hand wash with any brand of "wool wash" fabric was will keep it looking and feeling good.

Good luck , Pete.

Now you mentioned it, I do think the seat covers were made from polar fleece material. I used heather gray polar fleece and contact cement to redo the headliner in the Celeb a few years ago. Maybe now that I think I know the material, it will be easier to find.

If you just want some affordable covers, we have a chain called Big Lot's that sells seat covers for like 7 bucks a seat. Bought one to save the seat in my truck & another for my del Sol.

Don't recall seeing one in the pattern you were looking for.

Reminds me of an old winter sweater my mom had. Looks alot like fleece, but from a distance it kind of looks like wool.

I'd go with fleece though.

Turned out excellent. Was about 4 years ago and is still holding up well. I heard that headliners fail from moisture. So I figured both contact cement and polar fleece are waterproof, so it should hold up well.

After removing the board and old material, I used a stiff plastic bristle brush to remove the old foam remnants. Then I filled all the pits and and rebuilt the broken corners with fiberglass body filler. I also used this opportunity to reverse my dome light which makes more sense with the spotlights now to the rear.

Then I applied like 2 or 3 cans of contact cement to the board with a roller, enough to saturate it pretty well. Then I laid down the fabric and pressed it in with a clean roller.

Anybody who sees it really likes it.
