Some more aero advice for race car please

hello all,

need some more advice, looking to really 'tidy up' as much as we can our race car. photo below.

I have though where the front red fire extinguisers are, as the flat side faces forward, would it help for me to buy a polystrene ball cut it in half and stick to front (painted of course) ????

any other advice please help!!

also we have now changed the injector (top of engine) to the below, not sure if it will help or hinder.

thanks!

Ha, so you want to improve the gas mileage! Whats the top speed?

Its hard to say if the EPS ball would improve the weight to drag ratio.

I think your asking for small things and not to rebody it with a teardrop shape.

I suppose running the cable and hoses out if the wind would help.

First things first, that engine being exposed is creating a LOT of drag. Build some fairings for it!

I don't think rounding out the front of the extinguishers will give you any noticeable returns.

Looks like the top fuelers have some aerodynamic appendages, like the body running back to the engine and the angled fairings in front of th rear tires to deflect air better and the skirt around the bottom of the body.

They say most of the aerodynamic gain can be made in the back of the car, so maybe some sort of fairing or splitter in back of the rear tires.

This is probably optimized for downforce, but shows the principal:

This is interesting:

Wouldn't that be funny if the fastest funny car actually got the best fuel mileage AND looked like an ecomodder?

Focus on the rear of the car, isn't close to 40% of your drag on the rear and around 20% is the front?, underside I think is around 25-30%.
Don't quote me on those numbers but I do know that the rear of a vehicle should have your focus.

Rule-book

Is there a section in the rule-book we could look at which 'defines' the limitations for your class,as far as coachwork is considered?
We don't want to get you dis-qualified.

The way it is now it appears the car wouldn't know the difference if a chute was deployed or not.

The other drag car that was shown by arcosine I notice also has fenders on the rear wheels, at 250mph the top tread of the tire is going to otherwise be seeing 500mph air speed.
