Just like to share this example from the other side spectrum of racing traditions with retro closed coupes. Here's a beautiful example of taking a Fiat Simca (very similar body style w/ your Topolino) with great lines for great 'top speed' performance. It is a closed body example instead of your open rail design, but it has spun wheel discs (decals!) & interesting rear wheel spoiler fences & diffusers. Member of the 300 mph club & 'Baddest Race Car' in Bonneville Speed Week 2010!

There are also other 'Top' dragsters, and especially the famous,Top Cop, racing dragster with its front grill engine fairing and rear angled top wing. I don't know your rule book for your racing niche but if you could add some/all of the aero advantages you are 'allowed', we're sure you could earn a few hundredths.

Both but rear more.

We are going to move the rear wing out further back but keep same height

I'm gonna try and get a photo up and will post data later.A fella needs to use the computer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The photo is from HOT ROD Magazine,Feb 1987.
The car is Richard Langson's 'Texas Ranger' renegade ultra-short wheelbase,semi-streamlined,bubble-canopied AA/Fuel Altered which ran in Top Fuel Dragster class.
The car ran low 6's at 236.90 mph.The NHRA was 'torqued off' and changed rules for the 1987 season to keep 'hot rods' out of NHRA show.
The photo is small and I hope you can see some of the things they did to the car.

Won't that make the front even lighter ?

Moving the fire extinguishers inboard but further aft (as suggested by the arrows) will also reduce their mass's leverage.

How about these mods ?

- fairing in the frontal and top area of the wheels, allowing for deformation, extending the arches you've already made

- belly pan underneath the aft part (under the Tipolino shell) extending to beyond the rear end of the wheels ; angling it up aft of the differential in diffuser style will either reduce drag or reduce lift (Cz) @ higher angles, though adding drag (Cx)

- streamlined fairings on the bottom of the belly pan in front of the massive wheels to direct air away from them, and push the air outboard of the tyres

- vertical plates inboard of the rear wheels to keep the air underneath the body from going into the huge rims.

- lining up & connecting the inside edge of the wheel fairings with the vertical plates further aft will make for a clean setup

- turn the flip-over protector into a streamlined boat tail that's as wide and high as the rear tyres , with a cut-out for the chutes

I have though where the front red fire extinguisers are, as the flat side faces forward, would it help for me to buy a polystrene ball cut it in half and stick to front (painted of course) ????

any other advice please help!!

also we have now changed the injector (top of engine) to the below, not sure if it will help or hinder.

thanks!
Hello all!
