After a little reading it looks like the the Sonic is already dead, the Cruise and the Impala soon gone with the closing of their plants but the Malibu has just gotten a big new plant in Kansas so all the car eggs go into the Malibu and Spark baskets at Chevy.

Spark sales are also way down. The Mirage outsold it last year for the first time ever (in a full calendar year*).

Who makes better cars, Mitsubishi or Chevrolet?
I do not know if you are really biased, since Chevrolet never really made the Metro.
Unfortunately, it killed it.
So, you hate Chevrolet?
Then the Aveo was a rebadged inferior car, right?
I find it strange that Chevrolet has continual ads about their quality and reliability, my sister is trying to get rid of her 2008 Traverse, having just bought an Odyssey.
She just needs to fix the Chevrolet (one last time!) and sell it before something else breaks.

Sonic and spark as I look it burn a lot in the city. The 1.4 Turbo engine from Opel is unstable and can break up with 10,000 km of pistons. Avoid the 1.4 and 1.4 Turbo engines on the Chevrolet.

I think Chevy's entry level car has been a rebadge job for about 4 decades now. Unfortunately, after Suzuki (Metro/Firefly etc.), the recent ones were Daewoo designs.
I know of a mechanic who maintains delivery fleet of Mirages and says they're much better than the Spark, which he also has experience with. Tim and I are pretty familiar with the Aveo (another Daewoo... we run its forum) - activity is almost all problem-related.

Not surprised.
The Sonic is a much better car than the Mirage to drive... more refined... but it is well overweight for its size, and reliability is suspect.
Compared to that, and even to other modern Mitsubishis, the Mirage is actually pretty robust. No complaints so far, except for a cabin filter that clogs way too easily.

Could you modify the housing to allow a second, larger filter?
