One other interesting tidbit this year:

Hydro-Quebec has installed the first public charging stations in Canada, two of which are a short drive from the rally start. Check it out Electric Circuit

The info has been added to the event flyer too.

Mike- Sorry, no diesel, yet. I have a source for a "running" 1.6, but no money right now. All my current projects are things that I already have parts for, and all money is going to getting ready for this rally.

Really looking forward to this.

Darin- Are you going to be bringing any Ecomodder t-shirts/stickers to the event? I'll take 2 shirts if you do. XL usually fits pretty good.
I don't have the shirts - Tim (daox) does, somewhere in WI. Still want some?

I do have stickers though, and will bring a supply of those. They're gratis at events like these.

Yes, please on the stickers. I'll place an order in the store next Friday. Should have plenty of time to get here before the rally.

Got my new fuel tank in this weekend.

Fixed a rust hole in the spare tire well too. Took it for a ride and it runs well. A pair of Ecomodder stickers will look great on it. Thanks Darin!

Ha ha, yes if I buy the fuel in Canada maybe. What's nice is that Canada doesn't add ethanol like we do in the states.

Thanks Jeff. Your Levin will look great with the spoiler.

FYI on ethanol: yes we do.

E5 is mandated by the feds nationally in Canada, and some grades of fuel are E10. You generally have to buy "premium" or "super" if you want E0.

The Ultramar station where we start has ethanol-free premium fuel, which is only 7-8c/litre more expensive than the 87 octane stuff, in Quebec. I've added this info to the flyer.

This year I'll try to have as much Petro-Canada 94 in the tank as possible in order to keep my JDM-spec engine happy and efficient. Last year I think I was running 91 for the event, and that didn't appear to be helpful.

Red face $8 Air Dam

Motivated myself to build my air dam today. Got a 2x2x8 and some fat screws and washers at the hardware store, and coupled them with some 5" lawn edging I got for free. Total expense: $8 and about 2.5 hours of work.

The air dam comes off with four screws in a few minutes. And it survived some mixed driving this evening. It scratches on curbs, but so far the lawn edging seems to take it.
