Here goes my current test setup. My current wheel spokes come more outer than rim so I have black soft material to bring that cover littlle bit outwards. Now the polykarbonate should not get scrapes... At the moment it comes too much off there is about 13 mm gap between rim and hubcap.
polykarbonate hubcap.jpg - Windows Live

This way you dont need to drill two holes to your hubcaps, but the attachement is difficult. With this you need to attach it behind/inside the wheel. Better version is coming which will solve that problem and that will be the serial version . Serial versions attaching time estimation is one minut per capsel, if those holes are already drilled...

Those are with this kind of "brackets" :
Browse Catalog - Cable Ties & Accessories - FTH-9 -Cable Tie Mount,Snap In
and regular zipties. Look also the previous and next pictures in my picture folder...

If you use those with regular ABS you paint those caps to any color. At the moment those come only in white. Much cleaner look than with regular zipties...

I will also try these if they can hold up:

Bravo! I love the C-thru cover because I can "C" how it works. Can you unmount it without cutting the zipties?

Not this version. Unless you use zipties which can be opened. In this case it would be difficult at least with 15" wheels. It took about 15 minutes to attach that to the car on the ground. Do notice that I have also added extra panel inside the rear tire to smooth the airflow so I have to attach those from the upper part of rim and working behind the rim... In bigger wheels there is more room for your hands and job is much easier.

I see they're also available without tape, so you could choose your own and add some tape to a set.

They said that there is new version coming or it was this, which will hold even if you attach it to wet surfaces. Anyway I will test these what I got.

Rengas - Jäälläajon maailmanennätys - Nokian Renkaat

Nokian tyres set new land speed record for winter tires 331,61 km/h. Check out the smooth hubcaps. They use also bolts on the outer edge.
