Nice car... I like old pickups but at the price of gas, you made the right choice.
Keep an eye out ahead of you for potential situations where you will have to stop or slow down, take your foot off the gas and coast as long as possible.

The Honda Fit is a great car -- my brother (who is 6'-6") drives a 2010 in place of his Tacoma and he finds it great for all but the largest loads. He still has the truck, but he drives the Fit almost all the time.
You can probably do 40+ by ecodriving alone. If you do some aeromods (like an upper grill block, or rear wheel skirts, or smooth wheel covers), then you could well get closer to 50MPG.

This is another perfect example of why it would be cool to have a "previous vehicle EPA" and then have the site spit out gallons saved, dollars saved and such.

Thanks for the replies guys, I will definitely be doing some aero mods to this car in the near future. 50 mpg sounds like a good goal!

You can do that on your own, just by changing the epa ratings in your fuel log to reflect those of your previous vehicle.
Title the fuel log something like: "Compared to ye olde pickemup".
The counters will then show gallons/dollars saved over driving the old vehicle.

The last time gas prices were heading towards $4/gal, I was driving a Subaru WRX STi ~150 miles/day to/from work. 22mpg was the best I could wrangle out of it. I calculated that, at 35mpg on gas costing $3.75/gal, the Fit would more than cover its own car payment in fuel savings alone. So I bought one. I get closer to 40mpg these days, with some mods and some practice, and the car is paid off.
(I still keep the STi around, for those times when I fell rambunctious. Since I don't drive it much, I don't cringe when it comes time to fill the tank with 93 octane.)
Congratulations on choosing the Fit. The car is nimble, fun to drive, economical, and insanely practical as a way to haul stuff. I see yours is an automatic. MPG may be slightly lower around town when compared to a 5-speed, but it should still do quite well in steady state 45-55mph traffic due to its taller final drive.

Looks nice! Too bad it's an auto, but otherwise looks good.
I'm getting a little over 20mpg in my Silverado, but I need to do something similar. Hopefully I can finally start putting some miles on the motorcycle, although the maintenance and insurance is high on it, so that may not be cost effective.

Yes, already did that. But I want to see compared to "ye old pickup" AND compared to EPA. Plus I think it would be fun for the public to see how much people saved by changing vehicles as well.

So you make two logs for the same vehicle. One real, one comparative.
Sure, it would be nice to have it all in one place, but it would be nice to have your cake and eat it too, and you can't do that, either.
