Whole thing is dumb.
That's easy. Let's say tits part of a larger system.
If you buy 360 watts worth of panels for $360 rack them for $40 and invert that power for about 10 cents a watt with a little money left over for wiring.
I would expect 360 watts to make about 1.75kWh per day.
So it would take about 9 years.

Since I have no interest in this dumb project, I haven't studied it. What is the total rated kW output of the solar panels they have installed?

Sono revealed a production version:
https://electrek.co/2019/03/04/sono-...uction-design/

It is bigger than it used to be. And less ugly.

That's a car I could use.
Hmmm.
It is a new car from a new company. I'd be scared it would break down in interesting ways or develop 7 different rattles that are impossible to localize or cure.
Memories of the old days when my parents had Renaults.

If I had the money... I'd keep saving until I had $6,000 more.

I think the size change is that the wheels got smaller.

As a vehicle designed and built by an active user community ..

Open source (at least, from what I've read on their site) gives you not only the schematics, but the specs for the parts that were purchased and the design files for the parts that they had to have fabricated, as well as the source code for making it run.

This is in marked contrast to various techies around the web reverse-engineering the Leaf BMS data packets, or replacing the control boards on the Tesla drive system to use it in another vehicle.

I'd consider supporting this group if their design was simple enough to build and fit my needs. Sort of like a DIY car .. maybe?

It will be interesting at the very least.

My wife could have it and use it to bring the kids to school, herself and others to choir and groceries to home - and never ever have to plug in.

But then it needs to be red also.

Is the person with their arms crossed smiling or crying? I can't tell.
