Disadvantages of ScanGauge-I?

I'm strongly considering getting a ScanGauge, on eBay if I can find one (used) for less than $150 or possibly one with the deal here from ecomodder.

One possibility is a used ScanGauge-I. What features are absent that I might miss? I have tried searching the internet, but it seems like everything is about the ScanGauge-II...which is certainly more attractive and smaller. But I'm thinking I will use the ScanGauge until I can get an OBDuino up and running for my car, and then sell it used (likely for low loss).

Thanks for the help, guys!

KJSatz -

I have an SG-I. The main thing you will miss is not having the X-Gauge capability. You can't retroflash it's firmware either. If, however, it's just a "transition" device, then it'll get the job done for you.

It looks cheesy, but sometimes I like cheesy(-bread).

The SG1 served all of us perfectly well. I wouldn't hesitate to get one if the price is right.

I agree with CarloSW2: the main thing I like about the SG2 is x-gauge - specifically the ability to put "instant" and "trip" MPG on the same screen.

Just snagged one on ebay for $51...unfortunately I won't be able to use it until neeeeext Friday (decided to ship it home instead of school for fear of it arriving after I have departed!). Most of the links/googling leads to SGII stuff...are there any SGI resources out there besides the manual I can read to get me pumped? Thanks!

Where did you find a Scangauge I on ebay? I've looked and all I see is SG2's.

Well I had been planning on trying to get a SGII for about $120 on ebay (used I guess); in my searches for scangauge or scan gauge it picked up the auction that prompted me to start this thread. One person bid on it a few days out, I guess with a max bid of $50.50, and then when I put in my bid with 5 seconds left in the auction (I believe my max was around $70 actually) I snagged it. I'd imagine they don't go up on ebay too often...but anyway, searching for scan gauge and scangauge are the best options for you. I don't know if this link will work; you probably have to at least be signed in on ebay:

eBay Motors: scan tool the scan gauge (item 280336206310 end time Apr-30-09 07:56:18 PDT)

That's the one I won. Good luck in your search! There weren't many details in mine, but I'm hoping for the best.

Congrats! $51 is the best price I've ever seen for a SG1.

Well I finally got a hold of it and plugged it in. Set up my gauges (trying MPG, GPH, LOD, TPS...maybe will try LOD and IGN), told it 1.8L...I'm going to get a fresh tank of gasoline to start it out.
