Spotting Plugins in the "Wild"
I have seen my second Volt today -- the first one was back in December before Christmas at a big mall parking lot. Edit: I've also seen a Volt at the dealer, but I'm not "counting" this.
I've also seen two Leafs on the road, in addition to my sister-in-law's; so three in total.
I actually saw a converted Metro recently driving on the road, as well.
A new era has begun!

Darn, here I was thinking you'd describe seeing a car zippling along, dragging a dangling power cord behind it, because someone "forgot" to unplug the cord.

Saw my fist Volt in December up in Spokane, WA... saw the 2nd one yesterday on the freeway near my home... that one was a PG&E car. Neither was on fire...
Have seen quite a few Leafs around here as well.
Of course, I'm in the 'left wing' state, so I suppose it's not too surprising...

A few weeks ago I've seen the Opel Ampera (rebadged Volt) for the first time - parked outside the local Opel dealership.

LEAFs in Montreal
Here in downtown Montreal it's becoming quite common to see LEAFs, because a car-sharing service (Communauto) bought like 50. It always makes me smile when I see one.

There's a Volt in my town -- owned by an electrician business. (Vinyl signage all over it.) Surprising for such a small city.
Cd: if you're interested in reading about the performance of a Leaf in cold weather, see: Canadian Leaf | Blogging the life of a Nissan Leaf in Canada (Ottawa)

One Leaf locally, owned by the local power company. Have seen a couple of Teslas, plus several that I didn't see close enough to tell if it was a Tesla or Lotus.

I found out about the Citi-car that is near my parents house because it was parked out in front where I could see it, I've seen a WheeGo parked on the street along with a Tesla in a parking lot, a Geo Metro that I think was a Solectra conversion plugged in in a parking lot and I've also seen a handful of Prius' with plug in kits and a Chevy Volt driving down the street a few blocks from my house, the Volt caught me off guard because non of the dealerships in town have any yet and the street it was on would have been out of the way unless they were stopping here.

The only true plug in that I see on a long term basis, is a '71-72 Datsun 1200
notchback coupe that the owner converted. He has 2.
One is set up primarily as a full drag race machine, with plenty of body signage
stating what it is. He regularly takes it to PIR , and blows away small block
Chevy cars w it, and the other is a low profile SLEEPER every day commuter
car.
He regularly shows one, or both cars at car shows, County fair situations, and where
ever he can in the Portland/Vancouver area to educate, and create interest
in people.
