My Volt has keyless start. It'll honk 3 times if you close the door while it's running and the key isn't inside. It'll also turn off after a couple hours in park if there's been no activity (you can get around it by putting a rubber band around the shifter to keep the release pressed down, if you're sleeping in it or using it as a generator).
If Chevy can get it right, how hard can it be?
My stuff all uses keys. Insert key, turn to start or shut off, withdraw key. No batteries, microprocessors, transmitters, or B.S. necessary. Replacement cost about $2.
