hehe, your guess is as good as mine. "PINC" only appears once in mpguino.pde, so it's probably defined in one of the arduino header files. Whether "PINF" is also defined.... or will work .... ?

Yeah, okay... I searched for it on the ATmega1280 datasheet. PINC refers to the port C input pin address register (there are also data and data direction registers). Similarly, PINF refers to port F's register.

So I'm gonna go with "replace PINC with PINF", sit back and watch what happens.

actually it is defined in the avr device header file, arduino is built right on top of avr gcc and you can get to gcc anytime (sometimes you have to when you want the most out of your hardware)

Code:
C:\arduino-0011\hardware\tools\avr\avr\include\avr>grep include iom168.h
#include <avr/iomx8.h>

C:\arduino-0011\hardware\tools\avr\avr\include\avr>grep PINC iomx8.h
#define PINC    _SFR_IO8 (0x06)
/* PINC */
#define PINC6   6
#define PINC5   5
#define PINC4   4
#define PINC3   3
#define PINC2   2
#define PINC1   1
#define PINC0   0

Ok, so I added the two files specified in the C:/arduino... code you posted Dcb, because if I copied and pasted the code directly it didn't work. I added the files, and tried that again, to no avail. I really don't know what I am doing right now, aside from switching things around and hoping they work. I won't be able to do anything on this again till the weekend, due to school and the fact that it's five am and I haven't slept since five am yesterday.

I also tried switching that one PINC to PINF and that did nothing. I also tried doing that with the code dcb posted by switching all the C's to F's, and I still got nothing. Do I need to just modify the avr header file directly to suit the Seeeduino Mega or add to it or?

Yeah, so this is going to be a longer hold that first thought. I found out my car has a rod knock somewhere, so it is getting put down soon . I can't afford a rebuild, and I get to do some wonderful negotiating in order to try and get another car. I still want to get the super-mpguino set up for the Prelude I have, but I won't really be able to sit down and work on it till I get the car situation taken care of. It's wonderfully frustrating and irritating.

On a side note, it's really hard to keep a 4 speed automatic with a slipping transmission below 4k RPM when going up a steep hill. Low RPMs will hopefully help the car last long enough for me to get another. I don't want to seize this one, but I can't stop driving it either. Vicious cycle!

That sounds like a horrific waste. If the body's in decent shape, just swap the engine and transmission with lower milage units from salvage. Or if you have some money to toss at it, you could upgrade to a stronger / more reliable engine like an H22 or H23. If you don't want the glamor and associated price tag of the H series, maybe the Accord's F series.

H22 swap.. Every 3rd gen Preluder's dream. I'd do the swap, but I costs about 5 grand, give or take a grand for parts and such. I wouldn't be able to have the high mpg that I want, but I'd be happy enough with some more power at the wheels. As is the poor thing is underpowered.

I'm just gonna swap in either the stock engine, the B20A (Jdm release), or if they make a swap for it, a D15 or whatever Honda engine has the Lean Burn feature. Only problem with it is the car has a salvage title, needs quite a bit of body work (New quarter panel, door has massive ding, rear corner needs to be cut and rewelded, undercarriage is a scratched and dented up horror house). I didn't do any of those except for the door. Left it open and backed it into a friend's pickup bumper. *oops*. No real damage to the pickup, but it munched my door.

Turns out I might actually be able to use the mpguino on my next car! If I can get it anyways. Things are really iffy right now, but I'll post pictures when I get it, although I'd probably get flamed horribly for modifying the dash on it.

Little update. I won't be able to do anything on this topic for a while. Just picked up a 1980 Fiat Spider 124/2000. Fuel injected, cable driven speedo, and more wiring issues than I would like to admit. I'll start on this again once I can get the turn signals and brake lights working.

I don't have an accurate mpg right now because a day or two ago the fuel line that attaches to the fuel pump popped off. That was a fun and smelly drive home and to the parts store for a new filter and some line. I'll try and top it up and get a baseline mpg reading when I can, then I'll move on to the whole "I don't have a VSS I don't think" bit.

Wow... 1980. I figured it would have been a mechanical fuel injection system, but that looks like a MAF sensor on the far side of the engine bay? Was it converted at some point, or is that car just ahead of its time?

My ancient fastback vw (early/mid 70s?) had electronic (well electric anyway) fuel injection. was triggered with a second set of points on the cam and had a "waste" squirt IIRC.
