Tata Nano EV @ Geneva show

Blistering 35 mph!
World's cheapest EV: Tata Nano electrifies Geneva show - Drive On: A conversation about the cars and trucks we drive - USATODAY.com

Quote:
India's Tata Nano EV seats four, has a predicted range of about 80 miles and will go from zero to about 35 miles per hour in a blistering 10 seconds. The car has super-polymer lithium-ion batteries, which Tata says provide superior energy retention.

I bet mine's cheaper... But it would beat my range and speed. I wonder if it really is only an NEV; they didn't say if the 35 mph were a top speed. In any case, I'm really glad this was posted as I hadn't heard about this car at all!

A "hopped up" 2007 Zenn was for sale nearby. When they say 25 mph- they MEAN 25 mph in original shape! For Tata to come out with 35 mph bone-stock is interesting.

That hot-rod Zenn boasted 35 mph. I wonder if the White Zombie has had breakfast yet...........

An EV with these specs would be not be "cheap".

The headline was written by an uninformed editor who assumed "cheap gasoline car = cheap EV".

And with those acceleration figures, there's no way 35 mph is the top speed, unless it's electronically limited.

I'd reserve judgment on this car until you read an article by a writer who knows what s/he's talking about!

Don't get your hopes up... Tata's main EV competitor is the Tara Tiny, which only hits 50 kph/30 mph. It is the same price as a petrol Nano, and frankly, the Tiny is a hunk of crap.
