I wonder if a "camper shell on, tailgate and camper shell door open" would have done better?

The only possible way the open camper shell door could improve the situation is if it was hinged close enough to the roof line, and angled slightly down enough that it would draw the airflow down to reduce the rear wake slightly.

I doubt the open tailgate would have any effect with the cap on - it would be fully involved in low pressure turbulence.

My Isusu PU is one of those that has a drag with the tail gate up. I push through a big drag area going from 45 to 50. When I have the bed filled it just flies through that speed. With the tail gate down I don't get that drag spot but it doesn't feel as zoomy as when it's filled. Some day soon I plan doing coast down tests to get some numbers to see just how much differents there is, I'm also planning to make a aero back to test too.

oh also I've not felt this drag driving full size PU's and have not driven other small ones to campare too either. So I can't speak for any thing other that this one, but no hard data to show for now.

This cap has big flat surfaces exposed to airflow, because it's bigger than the cab, unlike most modern ones.

the GM MAP sensor is just a sensor, you TEE it into an existing vacuum line on the engine

It uses a 5V source, Ground and give an output the varies with the amount of vacuum the engine has.

I have a Suzuki GSX-R 750 MAP sensor on my '91 Nissan 240SX for testing purposed for a project engine I'm building...
