My name is Saro. Long time fan of engineering of all sorts and was a proponent of unwasteful cars long before gas hit $5 / gallon. It's just sensible.
We currently own a 98 Corolla (a car I hate but can't get rid of) and just acquired an 09 Smart ForTwo Pure. Also have a number of motorcycles in the garage but nothing obscenely efficient. The best in our stable are the 500cc Buell singles which get anywhere from 55 - 70 mpgs - depending.
Our Smart is the US Spec 451 which is not available with a turbo. It's my wife's car and we just got it 3 weeks ago - so not really certain of where the mileage figures will wind up long term. Mileage figures for us have been something better than 37 or 38 MPG - almost completely highway and definitely going above 65 MPH and a tight engine. Really not much better than my Corolla (451 aero sucks) - except that we needed to get rid of the car she had before and get something inexpensive to own and operate. The Smart fit the bill. I actually enjoy driving it.
As far as ethnicity, I am Persian Armenian (if you know Armenians, you know there are a few flavors of Armenian). Moved to the states when I was 5. Been in some part of the Los Angeles area since.
