Ive been places posted "No commercial vehicles" and they meant it. They also wouldn't let in converted semi /5th wheel combos with Rv plates. Might keep you out of many state parks. Oregon, I'm looking at you here.

In the USA almost all services are contracted. If you aren't in a restricted area no one is going to blink and eye at a plumber's van in a park. Pay your fee to get in and go.
It is also very common for small business owners to use their vehicle for both work and play. We have a proud tradition of buy a vehicle we want - sometime not at all suited for the business - and then writing off part or all of the expense as a business expense.

Same here, except writing off any expense as a business expense. Otherwise, how would I see things like these?

We went snowshoeing today and at the trailhead there were 2 "company" vehicles. A Transit connect plastered with a wrap for a sticker company and a "landscaping" truck that was pulling snowmobile trailer.
There was also a full-on campervan built on a Chevy City Express (Nissan NV200)

Obviously your experiences are vastly different from mine, where I HAVE been turned away from reserved sites because of my equipment appearance and or age.

Interesting. What GCWR is your rig? Do you have a DOT number on the side.
I see wrapped trucks like this all the time in Oregon campgrounds
We will be staying single rear wheel and under 10,000 GVWR. That also keeps us under the chain laws in most places so only winter tires are required.
I'm thinking something more like this than a wrap:

Can't think of a better thread for this:
Preston Foster's custom vacation wagon 1939 Studebaker
Quote:
Foster's wagon had a distinctive ash-framed body customized for camping. Seats fold down to form a bed, and a tent could be raised on telescoping poles to enclose the rear and side of the car, exactly as your picture shows. It had air-conditioning, and a two-way short-wave radio. Opening the rear deck lid and rear 'doors' exposed "a sink with draining board, a gasoline stove, a refreshment cabinet [think liquor], shelves for supplies and a refrigerator. The latter was powered by a small gasoline motor situated behind the grille between it and the radiator. The motor also provided 110-volt power for the interior lights."
|
It appears to be a California ute. All it needs is a magnetic stick-on car door sign.

How do you stick magnetic door signs on a woodie door?
10,000 Mvgw, 16,000 total gross, not dot stickered. Truck is longer than the Casita.

Strange. I was in Cottonwood Canyon State Park a few weeks ago and there was a fully wrapped truck with a 5th wheel camped there. Park was open, camp hosts present and making rounds, and RV slots completely full.

Good point. How about on the fender-mount spare tire?
