Time for new Well Pump

Well the the Well (not so much the pump) went dry.

Time for a new/ deeper one I suppose

Any suggestions?

I've got a well service who will be here soon to take a look/ fix it.

I was just considering Eco-Modding anything while there is an opportunity (not that I can think of anything at the moment)

TONS of Iorn in my water.

Should I try and pour some acid down hole?

Should I ask the well guy about blasting caps?

Well guy said to pull it out and call him back. I don't think he wanted to fuss with it as it is in the bathroom of my Guest House. I have to pull a cabinet, the celling , and the Roof to pull the pipe out the ground.

Thank you guys very much for the info

Start collecting rain water?

Around here it's not leagle to put a well in a building, so it sounds like you get to pull the guess house apart!
Any idea how deep the well is? any idea if the well really went dry, or if the pump stopped working? if it's simply the pump, then replace it, 220v is better then 110v for pumps because the motor is more efficient, less line loss in the wires and I think they are over all just cheaper, I think you will also save a little bit if you have a larger pressure tank as your pump is not turning on and off as much where it has to start that motor from a dead stop, drawing alot of power for that first few seconds.

You can still buy new hand pumps...

I do collect rain water for use at my camp, works great. if I didn't have a swimming pool I could get away with it most of the time at home. May do that in the interim . . .

Pump still works, in fact it is pumping pool water up to pressure right now supplying the house with water.

Bigger pressure tank is a very good idea!

Pump is already 220

No Idea on how deep the well is . . .

Pump was outdoor, then a shed was built, then the house became mine, then I built a room, then it became a guest house with real ceiling, cabinets etc etc.

Totally NON eco advice needed, but fast would be GREAT

I puled the pump/ pipe out (cut it in to 8 foot lengths) out to find that the foot valve was MISSING, the male adapter had sheered off.

Well is 60 feet

Anyways I re-assembled it, (lots of couplers) but now I have a leak between the Casing and the Flange, I was not aware that there was any pressure there . . . . .

Should I seal it up (doesn't look like anything was sealing it before)?

Did I assemble it in-correctly?

googling now . . .

Learned a lot in the past day

1) center pipe is (1") is 60 feet
2) Casing is approx. 200 feet deep
3) water level is about 55~60 feet deep at this moment
4) Pump requires a "jet" to operate <- Never heard/ seen one before
5) New PVC pipe is very flexible, it can be maneuvered through a cabinet, a bathroom, a bedroom and through the door :-)

6) Submersible pumps are FAR FAR more efficient. a 1/2 hp submersible will do 13 GPM at 100 feet, while my 1hp (actual running draw in operation was about 900~950 watts) Jet pump can do 2 gpm at 60 feet

7) Smallest submersible pump sold is 3.5" OD (my casing is 2" ID)
