What an inspiring video! Rudolph Diesel had an amazing vision with his peanut oil powered apparatus and all these years later it's becoming the focal point for alternative power plants for cars. 50% of all car sales in Europe have diesel engines, it's high time we started catching up. Lots of power, MUCH more efficiency than petrol powered engines and the ability to go from regular diesel to bio-diesel with little or no modifications makes them greatly versatile.
I'd KILL for a VW Polo with ANY of the five TDI engine choices they offer in Eurpoe that easily net 70mpg+ as would a lot of other people on this forum I suspect.....come on VW, get those EcoModders demographics in mind!

I was interested in this but find the link in the original post (copied below here) goes no where. Anyone know where I can read more about this project...? Thanks!

Looks like they rejigged their web site, with the result that the story is lost. Too bad.
Links should never die.

It's disappointing they don't offer up more information about what they used and did to the car. I mean you can deduce what was probably done but whats better than knowing what they did and if replicated could see the same results, or maybe improve upon original ideas to achieve more.

Only thing I found was:
What is a Sipster?
Now (MotoIQ Magazine; Dave Coleman articles)
Remember Project Sipster?

Good find, slowmover.
Too bad the piece de resistance in the series is missing: the fuel economy test. Or the aero stuff.
I tried finding the articles at the Internet Archive, but apparently they were deleted before they were crawled.

Amazing. Cool project. Makes me think of a fun project for the '83 RX-7. Wonder if I could mate the Mazda diesel engine from a mid 80's Ford Tempo to the tranny. Their both manual. Swap engines, gear it lower, hmmm....

How did you handle the wiring differences?
I've been impressed (more like depressed) by the number of unique connectors found in the Prius wiring harness. The only approach I've come up with is to get pig-tails from a donor, salvage and assault the problem with soldering iron and heat-shrink.
Thanks,
Bob Wilson
