Funny thing is properly specified marine ply MIGHT not actually be waterproof if the plies are thick enough. Damage is done by the ply swelling enough for the glue bond to break. I was just pointing out an common failure mode, YMMV.

In a boat, the process is tuned to keeping the liquids on one side of the stratum, not much attention to keeping the inside watertight.

1. Removed custom steel undertray. (-9.65 kg, but I will not count it in the general log, because it is not part of the original car equipment.)



2. Did fitment check with PVC model. It is almost perfect. Created holes for factory fasteners.







3. Put OEM plastic undertray until I will build custom one.

Had not measured, but it should be less than 1 kg - I can hold it with a single finger.
OEM is more like a dust cover, while the steel one is more like a shield.

Next time will do proper measurements for OEM.

Not sure to which extent it would be worth as a dust cover. Most likely it was added to smooth the underbody. Can you bend it with your bare hands?

Mirrors

Just purchased a set of small mirrors









Now I need to think on how to mount them.

Mirror size is 150 mm x 70 mm, it complies to EU regulations.

There are still open question from legal perspective:
1. I cannot control them from driver's seat.
2. If I install them, there will be no turn signal on the side of the car.

Would not be a problem at all if you could easily find a Brazilian there to solve this issue with some amount of gambiarra. I was already lurking about making a cable-actuated manual control for those mirrors, and replacing the built-in turn signals from the stock mirrors with some motorcycle turn signals which could be adapted either to the fenders or to these aftermarket mirrors.

Headrest

Slow, but confident... Continue removing extra parts.
Rear middle headrest removed:


Weight: 337g.

UPD: Also, removed headrest supports (locks).
Total reductions: 374g.

The rear middle headrest is often the hardest to adjust anyway, so maybe even if you haul 4 passengers the one who takes the middle rear seat won't even notice it.
