My Altima coasts in neutral at 60 MPG when speed is over 15 MPH, indicating an idle consumption of about .25 GPH. That is how I handle traffic jams, which are almost exclusively on the Interstates here.

Pulse and coast with engine on.

It also does a beautiful job of rev matching when you shift from neutral to drive. The torque converter remains unlocked for about 3 seconds, then it locks back up.

I did the pulse and coast on a deserted 35 MPH speed road and came close to 60 MPG averaging 31 MPH.

regards
Mech
