Trying to get going again (ignition switch problems - '97 Nissan Sentra)

I have a 1997 Sentra that has been very good on gas, but is now giving me problems. I found that the ignition switch had some problems, and was actuating the switch out of the column, when I accidentally bumped the metal under dash frame. Of course it sparked, but now the switch does nothing, I swapped in a new switch and still nothing. All fuses seem to be good, and I will swap the Ignition Relay switch to see if that does anything. Aside that, what else is there to check on these cars?

Sometimes if a major power connection is marginal (battery cable, terminal block at the firewall, etc.) a heavy load like a short will make it open. I'd check the battery cables and wiggle some wires around and try again.

Hook a test light to the negative (ground) battery terminal. Start at the positive battery terminal and follow the power path to the ignition switch. When the light stops working you have located your bad connection. If you find no place where the light does not work, then you have a bad ground connection.

Could have a blown fusible link at the place where the positive battery cable feeds power to the ignition relay, bad relay, bad connection, etc.
