He can also work on the sides of the vehicle, which a hailstorm will not reach as well. And he is almost (depends on how fast he goes through the beer) guaranteed not to damage your windows as much as the hailstorm.

That's great! Thanks for the laugh!

Aside from the fact that we already know the product won't work, the magnitude of their claims alone (from their web site) should automatically and instantly disqualify them from serious consideration by anyone with an ounce of grey matter:

Quote:
The improved fuel economy of a vehicle wrapped in MPG-Plus™ as compared to the identical vehicle not wrapped is 18%-20% for traditional internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEVs) and 20%-25% for gasoline hybrid vehicles
(PS: I was wondering when this thread would get posted )

so is it supposed to reduce skin friction? I don't think skin friction if completely eliminated would contribute 20% to MPG. I am with Frank... lost. Need more information to make any assumptions.

I think they're going for the "golf-ball dimple" effect. Not convincing without empirical data.

Sorry. I am new to the arena as far as the physics is concerned when trying to save mileage.

We have taken two of our Scion xBs here at the dealership and wrapped them with a dimpled film to increase their MPG. So far as I drive the cars around, it has increase the fuel efficiency of both cars.

I wasn't sure if anyone had ever tried this or if there were any ideas on the theory. I can see that it works and can probably be manipulated to save money on the installation of the wrap by maybe not having to cover the car.

Sorry about any confusion, just trying to pass this by anyone that might have any ideas.

Ah, a band aid for poor design. I think from what they show if they had a better angle from the windshield to the roof there would be no need... You would think they would have some real data to back up claims of 20% improvements.
