I'd say it's the same deal as 12-15 years ago, they are only making them because of zero emission laws, and would re-create the Ev-1 crushing if these laws were lifted.

I have a feeling the EV makers are waiting for gas prices to go over $3.50/gal, every one will freak out, their existing EV inventory will sell out over night, even with a several thousand dollar price premium added to the vehicles and there will be waiting lists where people put money down in advance like people were for the prius a few years ago.

A sure way to ensure success of the eV is raise the price of oil by any means necessary

I'm sure you guys have read the news lately. Hence the whole incentive/ forcing of the automakers to sell an electric car.
