Video: great smart car review ... by people who appreciate compact transportation
Here's an entertaining & thorough review of the '08 US smart car, posted by the folks from www.thescooterscoop.com
I like the shot at the end of the video - the host has his scooter helmet in his lap while he's wrapping up.
I bet he couldn't wait to get the heck out of that enormous land yacht and back on two wheels!

Filmed in Austin, Tx. W00T. Nice find. I'm hoping to see a bunch of those here.

When will these become available in the US for sale? If they have already, where do you get them?

U.S. deliveries of the smart started this month (January 08).
You get them out of the gum ball machines at the grocery store.
Just kidding . Check http://smartusa.com/

The engine even sounds decent when the guy is giving it some stick at about 4:00 into the video when he heads onto the freeway.
Too bad only the automated manual gearbox is available. If they offered a true manual, a determined hypermiler could kick butt with this platform in urban driving.

Staged, or not staged? At 6:20 they drive by a traffic crash, where a SUV has flipped over on it's roof, crushing the A pillar down on one side. This gives the smooth smart guy the opportunity to segue into a little talk about the smart's safety cell as they drive past. What are the odds.

I wonder how cheaply a determined searcher will be able to pick one up for from an unhappy owner in half a year hehe.
They look like neat cars.
