Maybe some of you have seen this before but a quick search on EM didn't turn it up, so...
And this one:

I presume she was fired shortly after Clarkson became aware of a largely positive Top Gear review of a hybrid?

The first incarnation of Top Gear on TV was a fairly straightforward televised motoring magazine. But then everyone good (Tiff Needell and Vicki Butler-Henderson) left to start up Fifth Gear (it runs on Discovery Turbo in the US, I think, but you can find it online). It was only when put up against Fifth Gear that they rebooted Top Gear as a less serious motoring show more prominently fronted by Clarkson and more focused on entertainment than actual motoring journalism. (though they did goof off quite a bit in the old show, too)
Clarkson was in the old Top Gear, just not as omnipresent as he is now.

Maybe "stylish" is peoples first honest reaction to the Insight in 1999 in the days before there was "Hybrid bias." "A sleek sporty looking coupe," that's sounds like an accurate statement to me.

fifth gear had an interesting segment on it. It was a cheap second hand car bit.
It had a smart, and an A2 with it. If I have time I'll look for it.

It seems to me that many automotive journalists and enthusiasts at least respect the Insight for what it is. It may not be fast or stick to the road through corners, but it'll do an amazing job doing what it was built to do, get great mileage. Add in that its rare and doesn't feel like you're driving an appliance like the Prius, and you have something that should make most car guys at least say "neat". The second gen, rightfully, doesn't get the same respect.

That first video looks more like a Top Gear parody. The best part is at the end where she looks truely surprized when the she drives away in reverse.
