Maybe you can explain how to use pulse and glide. I read a lot about it but still can't understand how does it works, and what it will save. Of course during this eco rally i won't be using P/G, cause it can disturb mine 2,4 l / 100 average if I will be doing something wrong.
You should keep rev under 3000 rpm in a lupo. if rpm are under 2000 rpm almost nothing happens because the gearings are so tall. So put the car in manual mode in 4 gear. Pedal to the floor without kickdown. When the acceleration in starting to end put the gear lever back ne E/drive. Then just release the gas pedal and let the car roll. Car will automatically put the car to neutral. With stock lupo this works best on 75 push to 90 km/h. Aero is just so bad that on higher speeds its a no go. On lower speed this is the best way to move. Also is you are not feeling happy doing it all the time then just roll all downhills in neutral. But I guess you do that already .

With stock car I was able also to see better figures if I used push to 90 and then started to glide with load. With load I mean tried to keep the instant fuel gauge at 2 liter mark or under. This way the fuel gauge settlet to 2.4-2.5 l/100km. I also think this was more efficient way to travel in a stock lupo 3l. Now when I have better aero the P&G is better.

Good luck to your race.

VW Lupo 3L -->2L | Facebook

Today drived the car to the x-treme tuning show. I was able to see 2 liters @ 85 km/h speed behind a truck. That time I didint have any smooth hubcaps in place and only other rear fender skirt was in place.

No problems with heat, with 100mm cooling hole fully open. @ 120 km/h the intake temperatures were about 60 celsius and water did not rice even to 80 celsius. I might need some engine insulation like you suggested.

I try to upload also a video, but its uncertain that it will come through...
