I was asking about the actual odds, not the type of hazard. What do the insurance companies say? I put seat belts in my car when they were a rare option, and have not thought about it since.

If the car is "street legal" (understand with "technical control" on date), you can drive it.
No problem with isurance company,, this car is pretty cheap on this point....
The most economic car I think:
Cheap to buy, to ensure, to maintain (tire, oil, filter etc...), a lot of parts in wrecking yard....
Fuel economy is very nice on Diesel and even gasoline engine...

IIRC it was supposed to be a successor to the 2CV. Well, at least it remained lightweight, even though it might not fare so great off-roading as the 2CV would.

in 1988, the diesel version was made, 71.3 mpg @ 90 km/h with a serial model, very impressive

I remember seeing a lot of them with Uruguayan plates some 20 years ago. Haven't seen one since 2013.

=> There is not really a comparaison to do with the 2cv.
The 2cv was a extrem basic car only done to move people.
The Ax is a car completly made for economic reasons.
Sorry, it is in French:

Perhaps they should install spikes into the walls. When people perceive danger, they act more carefully.

Us two-wheelers know that, but it seems should be a mandatory question on the drivers exam, or better yet, drivers should be placed into a VR simulation where they have to look out for other bad drivers to pass the exam. Get hit in simulation, fail the test.
Avoid collisions is the first rule of driving, all the other ones follow from it.

YouTube vids prove when some drivers get dashcams they cause collisions for... their 15 minutes of fame?
