It doesn’t take much to mount that existing 1.5 to a manual transaxle

Hard part would be making the motor stand alone with a functional dash

Wouldn't it be an Echo at that point? Seems like the long and hard way to get an Echo! A manual swap in a 2nd gen Prius is more tempting.

Broken Prius fixed into odd looking echo

Time to start poking at the battery. I bet with suspicion only a couple cells in that pack are actually dead. If that's the case you can probably have a running beater for almost no money. May not get great gas mileage but it's still a cheap Toyota. ��

I pulled the battery out. It has a bit of burnt electronics smell to it. That can't be good, right? I'll open it up soon to investigate.
