Honda MTF, because it's 10W30 with anti-wear additives. I'd pour in 0W30 if Honda weren't so insistent on the need for additives.

I couldn't find any reasonably priced GM synchromesh, so I used pennzoil's equivalent. Noticeable difference initially, but I think I either got used to it or it went away after about 3 months.

I actually think I just poured 0W30 into my Si tranny when I put it in, b/c I didn't have any MTF or "recommended" oils laying around, and didn't wanna go buy some. Never had any grinds, so I guess I did OK. (I beat the ish out of that transmission, full throttle dumps, full throttle shifts, rip shifting, even slammed it into first at 50 MPH once.)

see if you can find out what specific additives they are refering to

I know that alot of synthetics have additives to help prevent wear and clean the engine out.

So if you used something like the mobile 1 fuel saver oil that is in 0-w30 you may get away with that with no problems.

And if you are concerned about it change the oil every year.

Just be careful if your gears are brass. Some of those "additives" can corrode it quickly.
