wheel fairings
add I found the image of the AST-III model wheel fairings I wanted to share.
Not knowing how the model would be mounted to the ground plane at the wind tunnel, they were left 'loose.'
The openings allowed the tie-down straps to pass through. They do introduce drag though, so anyone desiring to do a wheel fairing package would wantas close a fit as possible.
If the link works:

# 166 (permalink) has the images I'd have you see

Compare your link ending in /baby-template-car-darko-2016-a-32673-17.htm to the permalink that ends in baby-template-car-darko-2016-a-32673-5.html#post526976. Your link, presumably to page 17, fetchs a page starting with permalink #321. This is because I have the posts per page set as high as it will go. IIRC the default is 10 or 20.
The permalink address is just to the right of the post number.

Consider the rear wheel of the Aptera.

According to Goro Tamai of MIT, a full wheel fairing package is good for up to a 70% drag reduction of the wheel drag.
My budget would not allow for A-B testing on the 'baby' template car. So they are an unknown quantity.
No concept car or production vehicle have ever employed them. So far, you'll only find them at Bonneville, World Solar Challenge racers, and SAE & SHELL eco- marathon competitors.

Aptera is either the one or the other.

That's a good call!
AeroStealth said that their display in San Diego was so popular that he could never get near it.
Are they actually selling any yet?

Doesn’t the vw xl1 use some minor wheel flairings?
Also the light year zero also uses them. Not as perfect as they could be, but at least you can physically see them in the photos!

* The VW has as much as will survive with fixed suspension.
* I tried to look up 'light heat zero' and didn't get anywhere.
